Setting: mainly the children's hospital where Izzy recieves her treatment, but there is no specific time of occurance.
Point of view: 1st person. The narrator of the book is Izzy, herself. Conclusion: Izzy, a smart 8th grade student, one day surprisingly notices something very strange about her body. She does what any girl would do and tells her mom, who then takes her to the doctor. As it turns out, Izzy has a type of cancer called lymphoma. She suffers a horrible battle to fight off all of her pain.
Characters:
Izzy
protagonist; she is the main character. She loves to draw and is not afraid to speak her opinion. She is also the narrator, who tells about her suffering and living life with cancer.
Kay
major character; Izzy's best friend. Someone that is so concerned, she changes herself beacuse of Izzy's sickness. She tries to help Izzy but seems to fail. She is a one-in-a-million, kind-hearted kind of girl.
Izzy's mom
major character; someone that will not (under any circumstance) leave Izzy's side. She faces all the tears and horrific moments of Izzy's cancer. She's the one that stays in the hospital with Izzy and would take her to all of her appointments. In the long run, she was one heck of a mom. A mom that any girl would die to have, even me.
Major Conflicts: -Izzy facing her cancer.
-when Kay became so concerned, that she changes. She thouhgt all along that Izzy was going to die and there was nothing, no one, or anything that was going to change her mind about it. Theme: I think that the theme of this book was cancer is no joke. It really showed in the book how much one person having cancer can affect a family and their lives as well as the patient herself. I know if I ever had to face the battle of cancer, I would definitely want my family there for support as much as Izzy's family was.
